Abstract
This Law establishes a service known as Geographic Information Service, as a corporate body involved in land administration, geospatial science and information technology, and empowered to: manage land administration matters, land allocation, registration and other related responsibilities; implement best practices for land ownership; verify applications for issuance of Certificates of occupancy for land or the grant of other rights over land, in compliance with the Land Use Act; develop a database of all land, with respect to title history, location, size, use and other matters, and permit access to existing data on land; conform to national standard concerning geospatial data; approve and register land vendors and estate agents operating in the State; establish a central geographic information clearing house, in order to maintain map inventories. Further matters covered by this Law include: departments of the Service; financial provisions and special fund of the Service; offences and penalties.
