Bush Burning (Prohibition) Law, chapter 19, no. 9 of 1984.

This Law prohibits burning of bushes in the State of Anambra and provides for relating matters. The Law defines the following relevant terms: bush, fires, forest officer, open places including grassland, uncultivated forest land, farmland. The Law prohibits anyone from: setting fire to any forest, trees, grassland, grasses or any other vegetation in any place; destroying, damaging or in any manner affecting any land, trees, woods, woodland, thicket, logs or other wooden matter or forest resources; setting fire to anything in such a manner as to endanger the life, health or property of any other person. The Law prescribes penalties for misconduct, and empowers forest officers to arrest any person who commits or is reasonably suspected to have committed an offence.
