Ebonyi State Agricultural Development Programme Law (CAP. 41).

This Law is enacted to establish Ebonyi State Agricultural Development Programme for promoting agricultural development in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. The Programme is a corporate entity with powers to manage resources, implement agricultural initiatives, and improve rural livelihoods. Its objectives include increasing agricultural productivity and enhancing the living standards of rural communities. The Law outlines the Programme’s functions, such as distributing improved seeds, conducting adaptive research, training farmers, and developing infrastructure like irrigation systems and access roads.
The Law also details the governance structure, including the Executive Committee chaired by the Governor, various subcommittees, and the Management Unit responsible for execution. It provides for staff appointments, financial management, land acquisition, and legal proceedings. Funding sources include state, federal, and international agencies, with provisions for borrowing and investment. The Programme is empowered to enter land for agricultural purposes, construct installations, and acquire land through legal processes.
