Ekiti State Freedom of Information Law, no. 4 of 2013.

This Law, consisting of 33 sections, provides a right of access to public information or records kept by government or private bodies, carrying out public functions for citizens and non-citizens of Ekiti State, in order to increase the availability of public records and information to citizens of the country and therefore participate more effectively in the making and administration of laws and policies and to promote accountability of public officers. Matters covered by this Law concern: right of access to information; record creation, record keeping, maintenance and organisation; disclosure of information about public institutions; application for information and related timeline; transfer of application; fees; destruction or falsification of information or record; exemption of Law enforcement and investigation related matters; exemption of personal information; exemption of third party information, including trade secrets and commercial or financial information, with disclosure of information related to public security, public health, protection of the environment; exemption of preliminary drafts of advice, policies, memoranda and recommendations; exemption of professional, including health workers-client privilege; exemption of information related to an academic or professional examination or recruitment or selection process; judicial review; court order to disclose information; documents under classification.
