Environmental Sanitation Law (CAP. 45).

The Law provides the rules on public health including appointment of the Commissioner for Health and Social Welfare of the State, health officer, and medical officer. A medical officer is empowered to enter and inspect premises at reasonable hours to detect nuisances, direct sanitary work and instruct inspectors and occupiers, order the destruction of animals suspected of spreading infectious diseases, and ensure that persons suffering or suspected to be suffering from infectious diseases are removed to government-approved hospitals or facilities, where they can be detained until they no longer pose a danger to public health. A medical officer must inspect assigned areas to detect and abate nuisances, serve abatement notices, and ensure compliance. He is also responsible for inspecting food items meant for human consumption and condemning or destroying any found unfit. The text further provides for rubbish receptacles, public dustbin, and offences and penalties. The text consists of 12 Articles and Schedule.
