Abstract
These Forest Regulations are formulated under Section 33 of the Forest Law [CAP. 85] of Ebonyi State for the management, conservation, and use of forest reserves, protected forests, and forest communal lands. The Regulations define the roles of the Chief Conservator and Commissioner in issuing licenses and permits for timber harvesting, farming, hunting, fishing, and residence within forest areas. The Regulations emphasize conservation, requiring permits for any forest produce extraction and prohibiting unauthorized activities such as tree felling, fire setting, or use of unregistered marking tools.
The Regulations outline procedures for permit issuance, renewal, cancellation, and associated fees and royalties. Special permits are available for domestic use and public utility projects. The Regulations mandates proper documentation, marking of trees, and compensation for damages. Regulations also include detailed permit forms and conditions, ensuring accountability and sustainable forest resource management across Ebonyi State.
