Gas Pricing and Domestic Demand Regulations, Statutory Instrument no. 7 of 2023.

These Regulations, made under section 33 of the Petroleum Industry Act, No. 6, of 2021, apply to regulated and unregulated gas prices of the strategic sectors, and provide for identifying the unregulated markets; regulating the prices of marketable natural gas of the strategic sectors. The Regulations concern: quality specifications of marketable natural gas; determination of the list of industries identified as strategic sectors, including: power sector serving rural communities, power sector for electricity generation, gas based industries, industrial and commercial activities which utilise gas as energy source; pricing classification for natural gas markets in the country and its application to independent gas retailers, exporters and gas distributors; determination of domestic base and average international gas prices; measures for ensuring customer protection; adoption of free market conditions; offences and penalties.
