Imo State Waste Management Agency Law, no. 5 of 2020

This Law establishes the Waste Management Agency and specifies its following duties and powers: preparation of long-term plans concerning waste management; conducting of research relative to waste disposal system; establishment of standards relative to waste collection and waste disposal systems; cleaning streets, removing and collecting domestic, commercial and any other form of solid, including medical, marine waste, garden waste and building waste; maintaining a clean and healthy environment; controlling the dumping of refuse in the State; removal and disposal of animal carcass from the streets; maintaining a central data base information system for collection of data. Further matters covered by this Law include: disposal of waste; specific measures concerning poisonous waste; monitoring and enforcement; offences and penalties; financial provisions.
