Kwara State Agricultural Micro-credit Scheme Law, no. 5 of 2008

This Law, divided into eight Part, concerns the establishment of the agricultural micro-credit scheme in the Kwara State. The Law provides for the following matters: establishment, incorporation of the Scheme, composition, functions and powers of the governing board; functions of the Scheme, including: management and control of the funds provided specifically for the purpose of the Scheme, assisting farmers especially medium and small scale farmers by giving them loans, obtaining loans from Banks or other approved sources on behalf of farmers, carrying on a thorough credit resources analysis policy in the State, drawing up and financing either directly or through financial institutions farm projects, leasing equipment and other necessary facilities to farmers, utilising the funds for granting long term loans to farmers for the purpose of high productivity. Further matters covered by this Law include: procedures in respect of loans; administrative organisation of the Scheme; financial provisions; accounts and report; power in relation to land.
