Abstract
This Strategic Plan, divided into six chapters, identifies new areas of focus and priorities of the Agency and defines ideas and practical actions to enhance the effective execution of its mandate in the defined period (2018-2023), aiming at achieving good health and wellbeing of the Nigerian people, through the regulation and control of manufacture, import, export, distribution, advertising, sale and use of food, drugs, cosmetics, chemicals, detergents, medical devices, and packaged water, in compliance with Sustainable Development Goals. Chapter one concerns institutional analysis and assessment of the Agency; chapter two defines Strategic Plan’s vision, mission and core values: ensuring availability of quality and safe food, drugs and other regulated products; protecting and promoting public health by instituting an effective and efficient regulatory system; chapter three describes goals and strategic objectives: 1) strong leadership and governance; 2) institutionalisation of best practices and the Agency efficiency process; 3) safety and quality of regulated products, including reduction of adulterated, counterfeit products and unwholesome foods, and strengthening surveillance of food and medical products; 4) continuous monitoring of quality products and standards along the whole supply chain; 5) efficient financial and public procurement management; chapter four and five focus on the interaction between objectives and activities to achieve them, following a defined timeline; chapter six provides for monitoring and evaluation of the outcomes through indicators and means of evaluation.
