Abstract
This Act, consisting of 29 articles, divided into four Parts, provide for safeguarding the interest of farmers against nutrient deficiencies, adulteration, misleading claims; and of fertilizers enterprises, creating an enabling environment for private sector investment in fertilizer industry. The Act concerns: application for business permit, and certificate of registration; payment of fees; prohibited activities, including: operating with an expired permit, selling any fertilizer containing destructive ingredients or properties harmful to plant growth, selling unbranded or misbranded fertlizers; inspection and entry powers; penalties and offences relating to manufacture, importation and distribution of fertlizers.
