National Strategic Plan (NSP) for the Elimination of Dog-Mediated Human Rabies 2022-2026.

This National Strategic Plan outlines a five-year Plan which provides the roadmap for achieving the goal of elimination of dog-mediated rabies in Nigeria by 2030, through proper strategies, objectives and programmes, that offer a great opportunity to implement the One Health approach. This National Strategic Plan, considering that the incidence of rabies is on the increase annually, represents the Nigerian government commitment to rabies control and elimination, and thus to enforce national health security. The National Strategic Plan is structured as follows: 1) introduction; 2) epidemiology of rabies; 3) rabies prevention and control in Nigeria, including vaccination campaigns, and handling of infected animals; 4) eliminating dog-mediated human rabies in Nigeria.
