Abstract
This Act provides the legal framework for the protection of Nigerians from the devastating health, social, economic and environmental consequences of tobacco use and exposure to the fumes of tobacco. The Act establishes a National Tobacco Control Committee and the Tobacco Control Unit, both charged with the regulation of smoking, prohibition of tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship, licensing of tobacco dealers, product packaging and the inclusion of warning signs, education and public awareness programmes on the ills of tobacco usage, etc.
