Nigerian Industrial Standard for Maize Flour – NIS 723: 2015

This Nigerian Industrial Standard specifies the quality and safety requirements, sampling and test methods for edible Maize grits from degermed kernel of maize. The Standard defines the following relevant terms: metallic, chemical and microbial contaminants; food additive; degermed maize; food additives. The Standard concerns: essential and optional ingredients; mandatory micronutrients; quality requirements of maize flour; pesticide residues and maximum residue limit in conformity with the Codex Alimentarius Commission; hygiene procedures; packaging, labelling, handling and storage.
