State Water Board Law (CAP. 149).

The law establishes the State Water Board for Sokoto as a corporate body tasked with managing the provision, distribution, and regulation of water across the state. It sets out the Board’s functions, including ensuring regular and sufficient supply of water to all parts of the state; developing, maintaining, and operating waterworks, dams, reservoirs, and supply systems; and establishing water charges. The Board is also responsible for providing water for domestic, industrial, and commercial purposes and for planning future expansion of water supply services. The law provides for a governing structure led by a Chairman and General Manager, funding sources, powers to acquire property, and make contracts. It also prescribes offences, penalties, and reporting obligations, aiming to ensure effective, safe, and reliable water supply for the state. The law consists of 57 Articles and one Schedule.
