Sustainable Livelihood, Biological Conservation and Outreach Fund (Recognition and Implementation) Law, no. 8 of 2009.

This Law recognises the existence of the Sustainable Livelihood, Biological Conservation and Outreach Fund, and provides for the implementation and enforcement of the functions and benefits of the Fund in the Kainji Lake National Park as a protected area. The Law specifies the following uses of the Fund: implementing ecotourism activities that promote economic development and biodiversity conservation; exploring and financing opportunity to support sustainable livelihood alternatives; investing in activities that maintain and enhance the health of the biodiversity of the protected area, including both terrestrial and aquatic habitats; protecting biological diversity and ecosystem integrity from various anthropogenic activities; educating the local communities about the issues of climate change with respect to adaptation and mitigation measures.
