Traditional Medicine Regulation and Registration Law, 1994.

This Law concerns traditional medicine administration and practice. The Law defines the following relevant terms: authorising officer; State Commissioner charged with responsibility for Health matters; herbalist; traditional medicine practitioner. The Law provides for: registration of practitioner; procedure to be followed for registration; certification of practitioner; offences and penalties; prohibited activities for traditional medicine practitioner, including: eye surgery, surgical operations, administering injection, tooth extraction, issuing of medical or death certificates, autopsy, blood transfusion, and intravenous therapy; categories for registration; establishment of the advisory committee on Traditional Medicine, and definition of its functions, including standardising the practice of traditional medicine.
