Abstract
This Act establishes the Utilities Charges Commission, defines its functions and powers, and provides with respect to its administration and related matters. The Commission shall, among other things: (a) evaluate and advise the Federal Government on tariffs charged by any of the public utilities listed in the Second Schedule to this Act; (b) design and develop an adequate information system relating to the Scheduled Utilities and their tariff charges; (c) monitor charges and tariffs and propose measures to regulate tariff charges and to prevent undue exploitation of consumers by Scheduled Utilities; and (d) study requests from consumers, the public and private utility providers on charges in utility rates and make appropriate recommendation in relation thereto. The Commission may with the approval of the Federal Government make Regulations for carrying into effect the provisions of this Act.
