Water Board Law (Cap. 141).

The Katsina State Water Board Law (Cap. 141) establishes the Katsina State Water Board as a corporate body responsible for controlling, managing, and developing waterworks within the state. The Board is tasked with ensuring the provision of potable and adequate water to the public, agriculture, trade, and industry at reasonable charges. It has powers to construct, maintain, and operate water infrastructure, enter into contracts, and conduct research related to water supply. The Board is governed by a Chairman and members appointed by the Permanent Secretary, with a General Manager overseeing day-to-day operations assisted by several Assistant General Managers handling specific departments like administration, finance, projects, and rural water supply. The Board’s functions are subject to oversight by the Governor, who can issue directions to ensure alignment with state policies. The Law also details the financial framework supporting the Board, including sources of funds such as government grants, loans, and water charges.
