Water Resource (Control) Law (CAP. 142).

This Law describes resoponsibilities of Governor and Commissioner for water resource control in the state of Katsina. The Governor may, after conducting any necessary inquiry, declare any river, lake, stream, or waterway (excluding those already declared by the National Assembly as sources affecting more than one state) to be a prescribed source of water under this law. No person is allowed to dam, obstruct, or otherwise interfere with such declared water sources without first notifying the Commissioner of the proposed works in the prescribed form. Within the timeframe specified in the notice, the Commissioner may require the person serving the notice to cease the proposed works if they believe the interference will materially affect the flow or condition of water in any affected river, either by ordering a stop to the actions or by granting consent, with or without conditions.
