Yobe State Water Board Law, Chapter 137 of 1996.

This Law, divided into seven Parts, concerns the establishment, constitution and functions of the Water Board in the Yobe State. The Law specifies the following functions of the Board: developing, controlling and managing all the waterworks vested in the Board, in order to meet the requirements of general public, trade, industry, agriculture and livestock; organising the conduct of comprehensive research; ensuring adequate supply and consumption of water; providing technical and consultancy services in relation to water resources consumption, management and development. Further matters covered by this Law include: financial provisions, assets and liabilities of the Board; powers and procedure in respect of water supply and water rates and charges; rights of consumers; restriction, offences and punishment; liability for damage and pollution.
