Abstract
A Decree to implement the Convention concerning the collection, storage and discharge of waste from ships navigating along the Rhine and other inland waters signed at Strasbourg on 9 September 1996.
The Decree is divided into 6 Chapters: General provisions (1); Oil and grease containing waste discharge from ships (2); Waste from cargo (3); Other waste from ships (4); The National Institute (5); Further provisions, miscellaneous provisions and final provisions (6).
The Decree shall apply to all ships navigating on navigable public inland waters including public waterworks (art. 2). It shall be prohibited to bring waste substances from ships into the surface waters, except in accordance with rules contained in the present Decree (art. 4). The National Institute in the sense of the Convention shall be the institute indicated by section 28I of the Act Pollution Surface waters. Its functions and some other matters relative to it are defined in Chapter 5.
