Abstract
The provisions of this Ministerial Regulation implement EC Council Directive 89/107/EC. "Food Additives" are defined in article 1 as all substances whether having or not nutritional value and which as a rule by themselves are not consumed as food and which as a rule are not used as a typical food ingredient, and which for technical reasons during manufacturing, processing, preparation, packing, transportation or storage of food and beverages are intentionally added, which results in, or which may be expected to result in, those added ingredients themselves or their derivatives becoming, directly or indirectly part of such food and beverages. Provisions of Paragraph 2 provide for the admission of food additives. In principle admitted food additives are only those which belong to categories specified in Attachment I. The Minister decides on admission of food additives. Paragraph 3 regulates the marketing of food additives. Provisions of Paragraph 4 concern the use of food additives.
