Abstract
This Decree applies to pesticides as defined in article 1, first paragraph, commas (a)-(d) of the Pesticides Act 1962. Article 3(a) of the Act, recently introduced, requires the formulation of criteria for the admittance of pesticides with respect to effects on the environment. These criteria will be introduced in phases. As an initial phase, the Decree formulates criteria with respect to pesticides' persistence in soil, infiltration in groundwater and risks to aquatic organisms. Methods for the assessment of such criteria shall be established by ministerial regulation. The Decree also refers to standards established by EC Council Directive 94/43/EG. (12 articles)
