Abstract
This Decree prescribes rules relative to use of spice and spicy plant preparations in food intended for human consumption. These kinds of preparations are increasingly placed on the market outside the pharmacy circuit as food supplements. An application to use such preparations shall be made in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 258/97 of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning novel foods and novel food ingredients. The preparations listed in the Schedule are considered unsafe for human consumption.
