Abstract
This Action Plan implements the Sustainable Use Directive (Directive 2009/128/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a framework for Community action to achieve the sustainable use of pesticides), and describes the policy intentions and actions implemented to comply with the requirements under the Directive, particularly: encouraging integrated pest management, bringing the standards for the use of plant protection products in line with the national and European ones, and conducting health research among farmers and local residents. Furthermore, this Action Plan provides for: making plants and cultivation systems resilient, applying integrated pest management, improving innovative application techniques and reducing emissions into the environment, and residues on products, in particular in order to protect water quality. The Action Plan defines objectives to reduce risks and effect and to encourage integrated pest management, and details indicators for substances of particular concern that exceed water quality standards; further measures concern: protection of aquatic environment and drinking water; inspection of spraying equipment; requirements for sale of plant protection products; handling and storage of plant protection products.
