Abstract
The present applies to the prevention of damages caused by natural disasters, including by events such as slides, storms, floods, storm surges, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions. The Act obliges Municipalities to take preventive measures against damages caused by natural disasters. For this purpose, the municipality may require the sale of real estate or direct rights over real estate, including the right to prohibit logging or other use, when it is necessary to implement measures to protect against damages caused by natural disasters. The Municipality may also decide to prohibit building and subdivision activities on properties or parts of properties located in areas where there is a risk of damages caused by natural disasters.
