Abstract
The present Assignment Letter lays down targets and priority measures for the Food Retail Supervisory Authority, created by Act No. 29 on good commercial practices in the food retail industry, and which became operational on 1 January 2021. In supervising and enforcing Act No. 29 on good commercial practices in the food retail industry, the Food Retail Supervisory Authority shall place special emphasis on consumer interests. The Authority shall lay the groundwork for more effective negotiations and contracts between food retail businesses and suppliers, which shall be translated into better conditions for consumers. In administrative procedures, the Authority shall propose solutions and provide guidance to ensure the Act is upheld and conflicts solved. The Authority shall, as far as possible, carry out its task without imposing the sanctions contained in the Act. In 2021, the Authority's work will be primarily aimed at setting up the necessary infrastructure for carrying out its tasks.
