Abstract
This Law concerns customary and artisanal fishing in the Tana River, which borders Finland. The purpose of the Act is to ensure the special rights of the local people to fish in the salmon-carrying parts of the Tana watercourse on the basis of law, age use and local customs. The Law defines fishing rights. The Law shall apply with restrictions that may apply due to the ILO Indigenous and Tribal Peoples Convention, 1989, international law and the Agreement with Finland regarding the Tana river. certain fishing may be carried out by reindeer herders.
