Abstract
This Regulation applies to the fisheries protection zone around Svalbard and to commercial fishing of Norwegian and foreign vessels, including exploration and experimental vessels. It is prohibited to fish cod in the fisheries protection zone around Svalbard, unless otherwise expressly stated. However, Norwegian and Russian vessels, together with other vessels from EU and the Faroe Islands having traditionally fished Norwegian Arctic cod in the fishery protection zone around Svalbard, shall be granted a 2013 total allowable catch equivalent to 37 172 tons (vessels from EU) and 2 042 tons (vessels from the Faroe Islands). A maximum of 10% by-catch of a mixture of Norwegian Arctic cod catch when fishing for other species is permitted.
