Abstract
This Regulation establishes a small conservation area in the northwestern corner of Nordenskiöld Land to preserve its unique geological and scientific values. The area includes approximately 14 km² of land and 3 km² of marine space, protecting features such as the Festningen profile—a key geological reference section—as well as thermal ground anomalies, karst features, and fossilized dinosaur tracks. The regulation prohibits activities that could damage geological formations, including construction, extraction, or overflight, and imposes strict rules on access, pollution, and drone use. The Governor of Svalbard oversees enforcement, and certain exemptions may be granted for scientific or public management purposes. Violations can result in fines or imprisonment.
