Abstract
This Regulation concerns infectious waste from health and animal health services. It is structured in two sections: (i) a main section comprised of 13 articles and (ii) a complementary section elaborating on the content of each article. Its main objective is to contribute to ensuring that infectious waste does not pose a risk of contamination or spread of infectious diseases to humans, animals or the environment. The Regulation covers waste from activities like education, research and diagnosing. Health and animal health services providers shall ensure that waste is properly stored, handled, and transported, and shall be disposed of in establishments that are authorized to handle infectious waste. Supervising responsibilities shall lay on the County Governor, the Ministry of Climate and Environment, the Norwegian Board of Health Supervision, municipalities and the Norwegian Food Safety Authority.
