Regulation
Abstract
This Regulation outlines the framework for financial support aimed at preserving the experience, natural and cultural values, and public access to highly visited and internationally attractive hiking trails in Norway. The grants support efforts to reduce environmental wear, littering, and accidents, while enhancing local value creation and visitor management. Eligible applicants include municipalities, regional councils, tourism organizations, and NGOs. Funding is available for planning, infrastructure like signage, toilets, and waste management, but not for operational costs. Projects must be publicly accessible and co-financed with at least 25% own contribution. The Norwegian Environment Agency manages applications, sets deadlines, and monitors compliance, with provisions for audits and reclaiming misused funds.
