Regulation No. 2037 on municipal authority in minor hydropower cases.

This Regulation outlines the conditions under which Norwegian municipalities may make decisions regarding licenses for small-scale hydropower projects under the Water Resources Act § 64. It excludes certain cases from municipal authority, including projects in protected or national salmon rivers, those affecting multiple municipalities, or those linked to other license-requiring activities or cumulative impacts. In such cases, the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) holds the decision-making authority. Municipal decisions must follow current national guidelines and standard conditions established in collaboration with relevant authorities.
