Abstract
This regulation prohibits Norwegian vessels to fish for and land raudåte, a small crustacean, which is a zooplankton that is an important food for fish fry and can be found in the Norwegian fishing zone. In principle fishing and landing for raudåte is prohibited but Norwegian vessels may fish and land 254000 tons with a specific trawling licence in specified areas of the Norwegian EEZ, the fisheries zone of Jan mayen (beyond 12 nautical miles from the coast), and international waters in the Norwegian Sea, within an area defined as NEAFC RA 2 (XNS). Specific sampling, reporting and observer arrangements shall be in place for harvesting of raudåte. The Directorate of Fisheries can stop harvesting when the total quota or area quota is exhausted.
