Abstract
The present Regulation applies to fishing in the fishing protection zone near Svalbard with Norwegian and foreign vessels of any kind that engage in commercial fishing or assist the fishing fleet, including exploration and experimental vessels. The Regulation prohibits to fish for haddock in the protected fishing area around Svalbard unless otherwise expressly provided. Notwithstanding this prohibition, the Regulation authorizes Norwegian, Russian and vessels from Greenland to fish within established quotas. Additionally, vessels from the EU, the Faroe Islands, and the United Kingdom may have incidental catch of haddock in fishing for other fish species of up to 14% per haul.
