Abstract
The present Regulation lays down rules concerning the catch of king crabs in the quota-regulated area east of 26° E. It applies also on land and outside of quota-regulated areas when applicable. The Regulation establishes a general prohibition for vessels to catch, keep on board and land king crab within the quota-regulated areas indicated in Article 2. For authorizd vessels, the yearly quota is set at 2,137 tonnes of male crabs, 110 tonnes of female crabs, 238 tonnes of damaged/hurt male crabs and 10 tonnes of damaged/hurt female crabs. Rules are laid down regulating individual vessel allocations, use of fishing quotas throughout the year, by-catch, transshipment, landing requirements, vessel reporting obligaitons, non-commercial fishing, seasons, etc. The Directorate of Fisheries can order a fishing halt when quotas have been used.
