Abstract
This Regulation establishes a mandatory reporting system for geotechnical ground investigations and natural hazard assessments in Norway, effective from January 1, 2025. It requires companies responsible for conducting such studies to submit detailed data and reports—such as borehole results, hazard zone maps, and risk evaluations related to floods, landslides, and quick clay—to designated national authorities (NGU for ground data and NVE for hazard assessments) within three months of completion. The goal is to enhance safety and planning by making this information publicly available for free reuse. The Regulation also outlines procedures for data submission, access, enforcement mechanisms, and penalties for non-compliance, while allowing for exemptions under special circumstances.
