Regulation No. 724 on hazardous substances, waste and charges for sewage and waste in Svalbard.

It prohibits the release of harmful environmental toxins and requires proper collection, sorting, and disposal of household and industrial waste, including strict rules for the handling and documentation of hazardous waste. The regulation establishes mandatory waste collection and sewage services within designated planning areas and sets cost-based fees for these services. The Governor of Svalbard oversees enforcement, and exemptions may be granted in special cases. Violations can result in fines, cleanup orders, or imprisonment.
