Abstract
This Regulation governs the conduct of fishing for anadromous salmonids, such as salmon, sea trout and Arctic char, in rivers and at sea during authorised fishing periods. It sets out who must pay the state fishing fee, requires registration for the use of fixed sea gear such as bag nets and salmon traps, limits the types of gear that may be used, and lays down detailed technical rules on rods, handlines, mesh sizes, net construction, placement, marking, closure and removal of gear. It also establishes reporting duties for fishers and fishing-right holders, including weekly or daily electronic catch reports depending on the type and location of fishing, and provides that breaches may be enforced and sanctioned under the Salmonids and Freshwater Fish Act.
