Abstract
This Regulation consists of 5 Chapters: Fish prohibition and quotas (1); Fishing by purse seiners and pelagic trawl/North Sea trawler (2); Fishing coastal vessels (3); General provisions (4); Penalties and entry into force (5). It is prohibited for Norwegian vessels to fish and land sprat in the following areas: in ICES statistical area IV in Norwegian territorial waters and economic zone and in the EU zone and ICES statistical area IV outside of a specified 4-nautical milebaseline. However, Norwegian vessels with purse seine and pelagic trawl permit/North Sea trawl fishing permits may land up to 10 000 tons sprat in EU waters from 1 August 2019 to 31 March 2010. Additionally, these vessels are entitled to participate in fishing and landing coastal sprat in the Skagerrak. The catch quota is settled to 1 997 tons as in the agreement between the EU and Norway. It is prohibited to fish for sprat from 1 April to 31 July. In the period from 1 January to 31 July it is prohibited to fish coastal sprat in adherence to article 35a of Regulation No. 1878 however subject to exceptions.
