Abstract
This Regulation aims at preventing the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza in connection with imports of privately owned caged birds from certain third countries. In addition requirements sets out in this Regulation, cage birds in private ownership from third countries must be introduced in accordance with Regulations No. 542 of 2016 on non-commercial movement of pets. It is only allowed to introduce cage birds in private ownership from countries outside the EEA that are members of the world Animal Health Organization (OIE).
