Abstract
This Regulation, adopted by the Norwegian Directorate of Metrology and based on the Measurement Act, sets detailed technical and operational requirements for scales and automatic weighing systems used when landing pelagic fish, and applies from 1 January to 31 December 2027. It defines an automatic weighing system as one that ensures all landed fish is weighed and that weighing data and relevant event data are automatically stored and transmitted without operator intervention. The user of the system is responsible for compliance and for maintaining necessary technical documentation, while suppliers must notify the authorities about equipment placed on the market. The regulation establishes strict requirements on data storage, transfer, error handling, data integrity, tamper protection, secure time stamping, and prevention of data alteration, as well as specific technical requirements for display units, totalisers, error detection functions, automatic stopping mechanisms, and sealing of components. Breaches may result in administrative fines under the general measurement regulations.
