Abstract
These Rules consist of four Chapters: Preliminary (I); Provisions relating to Animal Quarantine (II); Provisions relating to letter of recommendation, licence and quality standards (III); Miscellaneous (IV). Extensive forms, related to the provisions, are listed in the Annexes.
The Rules provide for the establishment of Quarantine Check Posts, set out procedures for obtaining permission to construct quarantine spots and prescribe terms to be followed while constructing quarantine spots. The Rules specify the period for keeping animals in quarantine based on the disease affecting the animal. Quarantine officers shall be responsible for examining the animals or animal products, keeping them in quarantine, making sure the animals are fed properly, inspecting that quarantine spots and transportation vehicles used for animals are cleaned and disinfected, etc.
The Rules further provide for: terms to be followed while importing and exporting animals, livestock product materials or products of animal origin; functions, duties and powers of veterinary inspectors; etc.
