Abstract
Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve is the only hunting reserve in Nepal. This Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve Management Plan (2076/77 – 2080/81) is prepared for conservation, management and utilization of the reserve and its proposed buffer zone resources for the period of 2019/20-2023/24. The main objectives of this management plan are to conserve threatened and endangered species while regulating trophy hunting for a healthy population of Blue sheep and Himalayan tahr while ensuring livelihood benefits to local communities through ecotourism promotion and sustainable management.
Major programs outlined in the management plan include reserve protection which comprises of infrastructure development for management and security, habitat management, hunting management and eco-tourism promotion, community development, public awareness, research, monitoring and capacity building which incorporate climate change as a cross-cutting component in research and community development initiatives.
