Abstract
This Act provides for the overall economic development of the country by fostering industrial enterprises in a competitive manner through the increase in the productivity.
The Act classifies various ventures under different categories of industries including: energy-based industries; agro- and forest-based industries; mineral industries; and service industries. Industries which may cause adverse effects on public health and the environment shall obtain permission for their establishment. The text also provides for the establishment of the Industrial Promotion Board and for its functions and duties. The Act further provides for facilities and concessions to be accorded to industries.
