Abstract
This Management Plan (Plan) envisions securing the future of Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve (KTWR) as a thriving sanctuary for its unique biodiversity and ecological processes, while fostering sustainable development and community well-being. It provides strategic guidelines to enhance the climate resilient ecosystems, species conservation and livelihood options for communities. The Objectives of the Plan are: 1. Ensuring the conservation of biodiversity and ecological integrity of KTWR; 2. Promoting human-wildlife coexistence, sustainable livelihood, and community engagement in conservation efforts; 3. Supporting sustainable tourism development and upliftment of the community & livelihood; 4. Enhancing institutional strengthening and foster collaboration for research and conservation; and 5. Addressing climate change impacts and promote resilience in ecosystems and vulnerable communities. The Plan addresses these challenges through six thematic areas: Protection, Habitat Management, Fire Management, Wildlife Health Management, Encroachment Management, and Climate Change Adaptation. The Buffer Zone Management Plan emphasizes conservation program, community development, income generation, and conservation education.
