Abstract
This Act provides for the establishment of the Nepal Electricity Authority to make arrangements for power supply by generating, transmitting and distributing electricity in an efficient, reliable and convenient manner.
The Act defines the internal organization of the Authority and its functions, powers and duties including: to recommend to the Government of Nepal long-term and short-term policies regarding power supply; to supply electricity by generating, transmitting or distributing it; formulate projects relating to power generation, transmission and distribution, and build, operate, protect, and consolidate necessary power generation centres, substations, and related facilities; and to determine and collect electricity fees.
The Act further provides for: powers of the Government of Nepal to issue directives to the Authority; penalties; fund of the Authority; accounts of the Authority; etc.
