Abstract
In exercise of the power conferred by Section 19 of Nepal Standard (Certification-mark) Act, 2037 (1980), the Government of Nepal has framed the Nepal Standard (Certification-mark) Rules, 2040. These Rules, consisting of 17 sections completed by four Schedules, regulate the Nepal Standards and Certification Marks. They establish that the office shall prepare the standards of the various materials, processes or services under the policies provided by the council and within the prescribed procedures. The standards pursuant to Sub-rule (1) shall deemed to be determined by the council if it has been approved by the standards council. To provide recognition as Nepal Standards: The council has entitled to provide a recognition as Nepal standards for any materials, process or service by making or not changes in the standards prescribed by any domestic or foreign organization. The office may publish and even may sale or distribute the standards determined by the council or a recognized standard of any materials, process or services for the general awareness. A procedure or a manufacturer desiring to use a standard certification-mark for any material or process shall submit an application in the licensing office as in the format prescribed in Schedule 1.
