Abstract
The Penal Code of Nepal provides for offences and the penalties and punishment for the offences committed. These include: Prohibition of spreading infectious disease (s. 104), Prohibition of violating law relating to communicable disease (s. 106), Prohibition of adulteration of food (s. 107), Prohibition of selling, distributing food by misrepresentation (s. 108), Prohibition of selling or distributing goods by misrepresentation (s. 109), Prohibition of fouling water (s. 111), Prohibition of polluting environment (s. 112), Prohibition of causing danger or obstruction in public way, river or place (s. 113), Prohibition of reckless conduct in using toxic or explosive substance (s. 114), Prohibition of reckless conduct with respect to animals and birds (s. 116), Prohibition of encroachment of natural heritages (s. 149), Prohibition of possession or destruction of public physical infrastructure in unauthorized manner (s. 150), Prohibition of purchasing, selling or distributing goods or service with discrimination: (s. 161), Prohibition of forced labour (s. 162) and slavery (s. 163), Prohibition of untouchability or discriminatory treatment on ground of caste (s. 166), Prohibition of adulteration of drugs or sale of adulterated drugs (s. 235), Prohibition of making or using false instrument for weighing and measuring (s. 273), Prohibition of fraudulent use of instrument for weighing, measuring or determining quality standards (s. 274), Prohibition of killing or beating cows or oxen (s. 289), and Prohibition of killing animals or birds in public places (s. 291).
